This piece is based on two themes, made of short melodic motives, responding to each other. These motives will be played as “variations”, “measure” or “cadence”, often to the ostinato. So the progression and the acceleration of the rhythm leads naturally to the final paroxysm.
Performance notes:
Written in 1997 and dedicated to the Philippe Portejoie & Frédérique Lagarde Duet. Premiered in Paris in October 1998, by the Duo.
