Programme notes: | "As anyone who has ever tried to put together a tenor recital programme will know, high quality pieces for the instrument are, to say the least, scarce. This new three movement sonata deserves to be adopted immediately by all discerning tenor saxophonists, as I feel it is a major contribution to the repertoire. It is sensitively written for the instrument, with elegant melodic lines and attractive harmonic progressions, with the different registers of the tenor used to create a wide variety of interesting and original textures. I have already performed this piece (and can vouch for its audience appeal) and it will certainly be part of my programmes in future." - Peter Nichols (Clarinet and Saxophone Society September 1994) |
