Programme notes:
Honey was composed in 2001 while on the Gold Coast between studies in New York on a Churchill Fellowship and rambling South American adventures. It is a through-composed adventure grown from an improvisation I performed then transcribed. I added a second part, playing with intervallic structures to create rapid alternations of clashing and sweetness. There is an introduction, which plays with silence, and a coda, made from trills to create shimmering four part chords.

Premiered by Martin Kay and James Nightingale at the 2002 Australasian Saxophone Conference in Brisbane.
