Niels Bijl is a very versatile saxophonist. His training began at the age of 11 with Willy van Diepen. He continued his education at the Conservatory in Enschede, which he completed in 1998.
The career of Niels Bijl is fully dedicated to the versatility of the saxophone. Two CDs with repertoire for tenor saxophone, since 2000 the alto saxophonist of the Aurelia Saxophone Quartet, founderof the baritone saxophone quartet The Four Baritones and the baritone Institute (with Jan Menu ), and duos with recorder player Ronald Moelker and accordionist Gertie Bruin. Besides giving concerts Niels Bijl is active as a teacher, since 2010 at the ArtEZ Conservatory. He is also a greatly appreciated saxophonist for productions of all orchestras in the Netherlands, including the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
All these activities have given Niels Bijl the opportunity to give concerts and masterclasses almost everywhere in Europe, and in Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Canada and America.
