It's Here!

It’s Here is the second a series of works written about my son, Felix. Starting with the life-changing realization that I was going to have a son, I wrote the funk chart It’s Coming for jazz quintet. Eight years on and my son brings joy, happiness, a certain amount of silliness and a lot of slight ‘kooky’ fun to the household. The pervading 7 (4+3) groove linking It’s Coming and It’s Here personifies the ‘sightly different, but very funky’ nature of Felix. Knowing the enormous capabilities of the TSC, the piece HAD to involve amounts of freedom where the players could let go, improvise, argue and slap their way to a slightly jarring ending. i=In the end, like my boy, it’s just fun!
